Iran FM stresses WHO to help Gaza with medical aid

TEHRAN, Apr. 16 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has called on international organizations, particularly the World Health Organization (WHO), to provide humanitarian aid and medicine to the war-torn Gaza Strip.

Amir-Abdollahian met and held talks with Hanan Balkhy, the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean on Monday.

The top Iranian diplomat said that the crimes and genocide of the Zionist regime in Gaza are not limited to bombing and many Palestinians, especially children and women, are dying due to hunger, disease, and lack of medicine.

While thanking Balkhy for her special attention and efforts in the direction of developing cooperation among major regional countries, especially Iran, with the World Health Organization, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized his country’s readiness to strengthen cooperation and interaction with the World Health Organization in bilateral and regional dimensions.

For her part, Balkhy expressed her satisfaction with her trip to Iran, emphasizing the efforts of the WHO in cooperation with international partners to send humanitarian aid to Gaza but said these efforts have not been fruitful so far due to the Zionist regime’s crimes in the enclave.

She expressed hope that with the cessation of Israeli violence and war in Gaza, the opportunity to provide humanitarian aid and healthcare will be possible.
